How Do you Use a Drain Snake?
Small home use drain rooters exist and can be used if desired. Begin by covering the area with towels where you plan to snake. Remember to wear gloves since you will need to remove any material that the snake recovers. You will want to keep a pail near you to put anything in. You will want to insert the auger end of the snake into the drain, moving it further along by turning it around. Make sure you do so slowly, twisting the handle to ensure that it is moving further in. If the cable begins to back up it is a sign that you have reached a blockage. Continue to turn the handle until the substance blocking the snake is broken down. If this is not working, pull the snake out to see if the auger has caught hold of the blockage. Once removed, dispose of the object blocking the drain in order to complete the process.
