How to Prepare Your Home for Spring

It’s been a long cold Canadian winter, now here comes the spring. This is the perfect time to have a clear out of those cupboards and dust off those cobwebs.  Here are some easy but effective ways to freshen up and prepare your home for spring.

Open Up Those Windows

For a couple of hours a day, open up your windows and let the fresh air flow through your home. You will notice the natural spring scents from outside find their way into your curtains and furniture to replace any damp musty winter scents.

You’ve been wearing big, warm, bulky clothes and boots for long enough. Now it’s time to dry them out and hang them in the closet until next winter. Find a shoe box for boots and shoes so you’re not tripping over them in the hallway, this will open up space in your home.

Add a Fresh Coat of Paint

This can brighten up your home for spring and give it a crisp new look to go with the new season. It’s time to say goodbye to the dark, dreary winter and to be able to feel that your home is fresh.

Get a New Doormat

You have probably been trampling muddy boots into the house for a long time. Getting a new doormat can make a huge difference in making your home look and feel cleaner which, in turn, makes it more welcoming for you and your house guests.

Get some Fresh Spring Flowers

Spring is the most beautiful time of year. It’s when the flowers are blooming and the trees are coming back to life. Why not fill your home with fresh seasonal flowers, such as purple irises, pink tulips or lavender? Your home will smell and look beautiful! And let’s face it, who doesn’t love to have fresh flowers in their home?!

Make Sure Everything Works Properly

Winter may have left a few nasty surprises for you. It’s time to check your HVAC system and make sure it’s ready for summer. Book a plumbing inspection to ensure that there are no small cracks in the pipes that may have frozen during winter.
